Julia and Joseph truly inspired me as a couple with their love of art, history and literature. They both are goodhearted people who love to give and share with those around them. Their romantic story began with a first date at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and it didn’t take long for them to realize that they were meant for each other. The relationship has continued with beauty and art at its core ever since.
They chose a wonderful place for their engagement session at the intimate Japanese-style garden Mytoi which is nestled within Chappaquiddick Island off of Martha's Vineyard. As some props with flair Julia found a couple of gorgeous hats for the shoot. Even the hat boxes were beautiful. From the moment she showed them to me I felt we all traveled back in time to 17-18 century and captured a moment from a grand love story set in a secret garden of love.
While we talked they shared one of the most touching stories of their time together. Joe was taking care of her when she had a bad cold pretty early in their relationship. He was standing by her bedside and said, "I adore you", and being sick she was a little tired and out of it and nearly said, "I love you", to him for the first time, but caught herself at the last second saying, "I L-adore you too". She didn't want to be the first one to say it since it was so early on. When she told Joe about it later he told her, "That would have been okay", because he already knew he loved her at that point. It is a very sweet memory for them, and they still say, "I L-adore you", every now and then for a smile and a laugh.
Thank you both once more for travelling all the way from Cooperstown, NY to Martha’s Vineyard for your engagement session. I can’t wait to photograph your wedding at the Sailing Camp this upcoming fall in Oak Bluffs!
