Julien spent a few summer living and working on Martha's Vineyard. In his free time, he enjoyed surfing at Squibnocket Beach, some of the best surf on the island, and it offers beautiful views of the Atlantic. He has seen many sunrises there and couldn't think of a better place to propose to his soulmate. It might not be easy to convince someone to wake up so early, and sunrise proposals don't often happen, but when they do, they beat the sunrise proposals!

Surprise Proposal at the Aquinnah Cliffs Beach | Michael & Caroline

Michael proposed at the Aquinnah Public Beach. It is also called Moshup Beach. After the proposal, a few family members surprised them by showing up on the beach and popping champagne. You can see all the emotions and feelings the couple shared with their loved ones through the photographers. Caroline's dad said to me with tears in his eyes: "I want every single photo from this special day!"

When I turned my back to find a prop so we could capture a picture of us and the sunset, I turned around to him being down on one knee. He asked me to marry him, to which I immediately replied yes, and we ended up watching the sunset and talking on the beach for hours. Aquinnah Cliffs Engagement on Martha's Vineyard | Julia & Ian

Julia said, "The proposal was amazing! Ian and I were going to meet our friends Stacey and Sarah at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. We got to the park and walked under this beautiful archway. My goal during this engagement session was to tell the story through light and composition and to highlight the authentic landscape Martha's Vineyard. You can tell where my couple was and who they are through capturing the candid moments and emotions between them. I tried to focus on guiding them versus posing and gave a lot of space to simply be in the present moment by looking at the ocean from the dunes, taking a beach walk, and watching the sunset.
